I can't believe I'm only three days into school holidays, it feels like weeks. Other than the occasional shopping trip with friends, I have been completely bored, which leads to this gloom I've been feeling.
But I've been somewhat ecstatic today, which is unusual actually. Trivial as it seems- Yes, it's the small things in life, the pure pleasure of it all. Not only did I wake up and make the perfect grilled cheese sandwiche, I actually beat my highscore on Guitar Hero for quite possibly the most frustrating song I have ever come across. It's called ReEducation Through Labour by Rise Against, and, it is quite possibly the best song on Guitar Hero World Tour. play on level medium though. I cna play hard but I'm too lazy putting in the effort that early in the morning. If you want to try beat my highscore, I got 1 27,089.
Hopefully I am getting wireless soon so I can battle someone instead of playing by myself. Yes I am a loser, but what can I do about it? Guitar Hero is completely addictive.
And aside from that, I received the most unexpected package at around 1.30pm. It almost made me squeal with happiness that my order of certain books has arrived from victoria! I have something to do now finally! Reading is certainly a passion of mine, and I can't seem to find any of the following books anywhere so decided I'd order them.
from left to right:LOVE ON LIFTS by Rachel Hawthorne, AUDREY, WAIT!by Robin Benway,Short Dragonball comic , PRINCESS AI: Prism Of MIDNIGHT DAWN by Dj Milky and Courtney Love, SUITE DREAMS by Rachel Hawthorne, SET IN STONE by Linda Newbery, ICING ON THE LAKE by Catherine Clark, and top: THRILL RIDE by Rachel Hawthorne
As you can see by their covers and titles, moste of them are completely guilty pleasures: chicklit. I am prepping up from winter, with much excitement, and these cute novels will hopefully help with the anticipation! (I could go on all day about loving winter but lets move on shall we?) Anyway, Princess Ai is a manga, one of my favourites in the series, I love Nirvana and manga so this series was perfect for me. Set in Stone is a period piece, which I'm excited to read.
I'm starting off with Love on Lifts. I borrowed this novel from a friend when it first came out in Australia, but it seemed to be discontinued in the bookstores. I enjoyed it alot and wanted my own copy but never seemed to be able to find it until I went online. Reading it once again brings back hilarious memories!
how can Kate not see Joe?!Have I ever mentioned that Rachel Hawthorne is absolutely, purely genius! She's my all time favourite chicklit author, tied with Meg Cabot of course. Miss Hawthorne is my idol, and I couldn't be a bigger fan. She's hooked me in with all these winter novels! n_n
I honestly cannot wait to read Suite Dreams, I already know I will love it. I also own a copy of Caribbean Cruising, loved it! (I'm disappointed I have to order them though, I cant find any more of her novels out there. )
I also have afew on order that aren't release yet, including some more winter chicklit and How To Be Bad, which I am very excited about!
Anyway, for people who don't like reading, you are truly missing out on something. As a teenager myself, I know just about everyone in my grade (at highschool) hates reading. These days teenagers have more problems to worry about, and the power of a good story can get you through almost anything. I don't think people really understand that anymore, and very few people can really write something that can make you cringe, laugh and cry at the same time like Miss Hawthorne, or Meg Cabot can. You could call me stupid for liking something as "shallow" as chicklit, but honestly, if you just wanted something light for a laugh, or to make you feel abit happier, would you be reading Farenheit 451? (I'm not denying the genius of Ray. Despite its brilliance but it didn't make me feel happier)
There are some amazing books out there, you just have to open your eyes.
